Goodbye Nokia, Hello Iphone

Most who know me know that I am or rather have been a die-hard Nokia fan from the very beginning.  I have been a dedicated follower and my Nokia phones have formed part of my identity (sad but true) and have also been there during significant milestones in my life (like the time I was on stage with the late Guru or when I met my ex boyfriend).

Nokia’s Scandinavian logic meant that an easy functioning phone was paramount on their objectives and they delivered.   They delivered with phones that had lines so clean they could easily have been stocked in IKEA.  Nokia phones were so resilient to breaking that if they dropped and fell apart, like Lego you could just put it back together again.  Then suddenly it all seemed to go horribly wrong.

Nokia coped effortlessly with the first generation of smart phones, delivering those annoying polyphonic ringtones and a picture quality that far surpassed its competitors.  It also had the benefit of featuring in the Matrix as Neo, Morpheus and Trinity’s phone of choice.  But somewhere along the way Nokia seemed to slowly lose the plot with the Nseries.  The Nseries started off with great promise with 5 mega pixel cameras but by the time of the N97, which just couldn’t seem to cope with any application (even after deleting all unnecessary apps from my phone), I realised that it was time to move on.

The bright lights of Apple have been calling my name and I wanted to fully embrace and join this new world of social media without the fear and embarrassment of my Nokia phone.  For a moment Nokia almost lured me back with the new Lumia 800 and its funky advert with funky music to match.  However, it's too little too late I have gone with my I phone 4S 32gb upgrade.  I have realised with Nokia like all relationships you just need to accept when it’s over.  It’s an amicable parting of ways and I hope that maybe sometime in the future we can rekindle our romance and I wish you all the very best but till then Nokia, adieu.
